I'm a neuro/phys major, and I just don't particularly care for where it's going to take me. Science isn't something I love. I don't really know what I love. My parents are African, actually, so I have no idea how to relate to your article. My mom has the head for things like chemistry, and biological science. She loves it, she would have loved to go pre med. But societal standards kept her from it. It's just like you say, so many people in Africa, or anywhere really would kill to be in my position, have the opportunities I have. How can I look my mother in the eye and tell her I gave up my seat in science because "it's not my passion?"God, and just last week I decided to stop looking to switch my major and settle for this one, my reasoning being, if I just get through this, I have a higher chance of getting a job, even if it's one I don't like. My older sister is in college and I hear her complain about late nights, papers and tests but at the end of the day she likes her school, has a lot of friends and is having a ton of fun. I'm so excited for my chance to live the "college life" and am just hoping I end up somewhere that allows me to enjoy my 4 years. One of my friends told me about this thing called AcceptEdge that tells you where you might fit well based on your grades and interests and it's definitely helped me pick out a few options. My sister's jealous that she didn't have something to help her when SHE was choosing a school! I have joined a debate club last year and did other things which involves a lot of meetings to organize something and I consider that year as the best year of my high school.
