I find it really good because I can listen to it while working out, brushing my teeth, or going to sleep when I'm so tired I don't want to let the lights on and I want to close my eyes. But I think the best way of learning is by writing : I can write a key point of a lesson about 20 times (less than a sentence) on one piece of paper to make sure that (a) I know how to write it (you don't learn the spelling when listening) and (b) There's a physical sensation to it (a small pain in my fingers and also, I can see it written under my eyes).
I think writing & ipod listening is a good combo !

I tried that a couple of times, but never to learn lessons (that wouldn’t work, I think), just lists of words : I say the French word, then the English or Italian one (depending on the class).
